Thinning Hair

Some statistics show that more than half of men over the age of fifty are afflicted with thinning hair. Causes of thinning hair

There are many causes of thinning hair – genetics, side effects of medications, malnutrition and even smoking cigarettes. If you are genetically predisposed to hair loss then you could have a tough battle growing your hair back.

Thinning hair occurs when testosterone in your body is converted into DHT. DHT is a powerful androgen and it clings to the receptors on your hair follicles, which then become weak. In this weakened state the hair follicles cannot produce enough hair to compensate for all of the hair you are losing on a daily basis.  

Thinning hair treatment

Thinning hair treatment includes prescribed medications, over the counter herbal remedies serums and solutions that inhibit the production of DHT. You have probably heard of minoxidil, one of two FDA approved treatments for thinning hair. Minoxidil is the active ingredients in products like Rogaine and Provillus.
